BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has claimed that the government did not “learn” when it was in power and that their fate would be worse than in Sri Lanka.
He told a news conference at his Naya Paltan headquarters on Tuesday afternoon that the situation in Sri Lanka would not benefit from the government’s education. Because they do not know how to take education. Then he could take education in these 10 years.
“He did not take any education. The situation will be worse than theirs (Sri Lanka). Not all have jumped into the river in Sri Lanka. You see, they will jump into the Bay of Bengal. ”
“We have said very clearly that the BNP will not go to the polls under the current illegitimate Hasina government,” he said. There is nothing wrong with that. ”
The BNP general secretary reiterated the party’s stance on the election after a joint meeting with its affiliates and demanded that the present government should “go”.
“The transfer of power must be in the hands of a neutral government and only after the formation of a neutral election commission under a neutral government will there be an opportunity for a neutral election and an environment will be created.”
Asked about the BNP’s position on EVM, he said, “EVM is the answer given by the Election Commission. I don’t think I have anything more to say. ”
Twelfth parliamentary elections will be held at the end of next year. At a meeting of the Awami League’s central executive parliament on Saturday, party president and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina hinted that she wanted EVM voting in the next election.
On Tuesday morning, Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal said that the EC has the capacity to vote in EVMs in about 100 seats so far. However, EVMs still do not have the capacity to vote in 300 seats.
Elaborating on the issue, Mirza Fakhrul said, “The proof here is that this government, which is fully involved in the electoral process and controls the electoral process, is the proof of how the Prime Minister will be elected in 300 seats.” That is the responsibility of the entire Election Commission.
“This proves that the government is deliberately destroying the electoral system of this country, that is, democracy.”
Responding to a question from reporters about the threat of BNP’s movement, the party’s secretary general said, “You see, the movement is not a movement. I don’t know what you mean.
“Those of us who are in the movement understand that the movement means to move the people, to bring the people together. Each of our programs is a program of movement. ”
At the same time, he demanded that other programs, including the one announced on May 12 and 14, be a movement against terrorism.
“This is the program of the movement that we will celebrate the martyrdom anniversary. Everything is coming everywhere. You will not be so restless. You will soon see what you want to see. ”
Asked if there would be a program to protest the rise in soybean oil prices, he said, “We have been protesting all over the country for a month and a half to protest the rise in prices of essential commodities. We have done this.
“Our points are not one, there are many points. We are political parties, the value of our politics is to fix the politics of the country. If it is right, the price of oil will be right. If the government changes, the price of oil will be right. ”
‘Khaleda’s 36 years of leadership, long life’
On this day in 1974, Khaleda Zia got the full responsibility of BNP chairman. Earlier, he was the acting chairman.
Mirza Fakhrul said, “This 10th of May is very important for us. He has been leading the team for 36 long years. ”
Three times he has brought the party in charge of running the state and twice he has mentioned the role of the opposition party.
“Throughout his life, he has fought for democracy, for the institutionalization of democracy. Yet he has been imprisoned for the past few years for the establishment of democracy.
“She is OK. Even then he continues to fight for democracy. We wish him all the best in today’s meeting and wish him a long life. ”
At the same time, the BNP secretary general demanded the release of Khaleda Zia to create a democratic environment in the country.
Mirza Fakhrul presented the decision of the meeting of the National Standing Committee chaired by BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman at a press conference on Monday.
Earlier, BNP’s Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, Khairul Kabir Khokon, Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie and ABM Mosharraf Hossain were present at the joint meeting chaired by the secretary general.
